Discover the Legacy of Taphus

Who We Are

A Modern Taproom with Historic Roots

Taphus Beer House celebrates the rich heritage of St. Thomas, offering a unique blend of local brews and community spirit that resonates with both tourists and locals alike.

Our modern taproom reflects the island’s historical charm while providing an inviting space for everyone to enjoy craft beers and lively conversations.

Our Nautical Journey

Taphus Beer House is more than just a bar — it’s a tribute to a nearly forgotten chapter of St. Thomas history. In the 1600s, Danish sailors referred to this harbor as “Taphus Bay,” named after the rough-and-ready tap houses along the beach. Though the name eventually gave way to Charlotte Amalie, the spirit of Taphus lived on.

Today, we bring that legacy back to life. Taphus Beer House is a locally owned taproom just steps from the cruise port, serving cold beer with warm island hospitality in a space inspired by the harbor’s past.

Each corner of our bar is designed to echo the rich, seafaring history that shaped our island’s culture and heritage.

Where Craft Meets Community

Inside, you’ll find a rotating selection of craft beer — both local brews and international favorites — with 20 taps and over 150 bottles and cans in rotation. Pair a pint with one of our crowd favorites: $5 gourmet jarcuterie — snackable, shareable, and made for good company.

Giving Back, One Pour at a Time

From the beginning, Taphus has been committed to giving back. Our First Friday events highlight and support local nonprofits, with drink specials, raffles, and community-driven causes. It’s our way of raising a glass to the people and organizations that make St. Thomas so special.
